Making Of Us - The Turnpike

From November 2020 to July 2021, I was part of Making Of UsThe Turnpike’s professional development programme supporting mid-career socially engaged artists who live and work in Greater Manchester.

Collaboratively with interdisciplinary artist & facilitator Abigail Betton, and together with staff and young people from Wigan Targeted Youth Services, we created and led workshops around the theme of Value. The creative workshops explored photography, ceramics, zine making and drawing. The artworks were exhibited at The Turnpike as part of Wigan Arts Festival 2021.

We worked collaboratively with the young people to name the project, and create an artist statement:

What will I write #It’s embarrassing

What will I write? #It's embarrassing.

What? That thing that began the that letter x10. Demagorgans

I don’t know? Got stressed over clay. I don’t want to stand there all day.
